We’ve got five people on the Northbrook crew, and every one of them has been background-checked, uniformed, and identified by name before they pull into your driveway. I started CleanRun in 2013 after ten years in HVAC installation and too many callbacks that weren’t my fault. The previous company I worked for priced low and rushed jobs, and I got tired of being the guy who had to explain why the ductwork was still leaking. So I built something where the written price comes before the work, and the photo record proves what happened after. I still ride along on jobs when we’re training someone new or when a house has a tricky plenum, the main distribution box where all your duct runs connect. I live in Glenview with my wife and two kids, and I coach a U12 baseball team that loses most of its games. The parents are nice, though.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us since 2017, which in this industry means he’s seen pretty much every duct configuration Northbrook builders threw at houses from the 1960s through the 2000s. He’s certified in negative-pressure extraction, the method where we seal your system and draw debris out under controlled suction rather than blowing it around your house. Marcus specializes in older homes around Techny and the east side of Northbrook, where galvanized ductwork from the seventies is still common and tends to separate at the seams. He’ll tell you exactly what he found, show you the photo, and never use the word “toxic” to sell a sanitizer. Off the job, he restores vintage motorcycles and is slowly teaching himself Polish because his grandmother spoke it and he regrets not learning sooner.
Dana K., Senior Installer / Duct Repair Specialist
Dana came to us from a commercial HVAC background in 2019, and she brought skills we didn’t have enough of: proper duct sealing with mastic and mechanical fasteners, not just tape that peels in three years. She’s the person we send when a customer in Northbrook Hills or the homes near Meadowhill Park has a collapsed flex duct or a return box that’s pulling attic air. Dana is certified in Aeroseal application, a process that seals leaks from the inside by injecting a mist of polymer particles that bond at the gaps. She’ll talk you through whether your system actually needs it or if a manual seal is the smarter spend. Dana has a dog named Rafter who is afraid of ladders, which she finds ironic given her line of work.
Elena R., Service Coordinator
Elena answers the phone when you call (224) 351-9772, and she’s the one who makes sure you get a written price before anyone touches your system. She’s been with CleanRun since 2021, and before that she ran dispatch for a plumbing company, so she’s heard every scheduling excuse and invented exactly none of her own. Elena coordinates our equipment maintenance, making sure the Rotobrush and Nikro machines are serviced on schedule and that we’ve got the right Honeywell or Aprilaire media on the truck before it leaves our Northbrook facility. She grew up in Deerfield, knows which Northbrook neighborhoods have the older Bryant furnaces that need extra clearance, and will tell you honestly if we’re booking two weeks out because of season demand. She bakes sourdough that Marcus claims is the only reason he stays late on Fridays.
James L., Apprentice Technician
James joined us in 2024 after completing a trade program at Oakton Community College. He’s still building hours toward his full duct cleaning certification, which means he works every job with Marcus or Dana until he can identify a compromised duct run by sound and sight without prompting. James runs the camera on our documented photo records, and he’s particular about getting the angle that actually shows the debris build-up, not just a blurry flash in a dark tube. He’s from Northbrook originally, went to Glenbrook North, and still lives with his parents while he saves for a down payment. He asks more questions than any apprentice we’ve had, which is exactly why we hired him.
